School Safety

All visitors are required to enter through the main doors on Wetherole Street.  Photo Identification is required and all visitors must sign in at the security desk with the School Safety Agent: Agent Alexandre. All visitors will receive a Security Pass and upon receipt must proceed to the Main Office.  Visitors will advise the Main Office personnel of the reason for this visit.

Updated Safety Procedures: May 19. 2025

 Dear PS 139 Families,

As you all are aware, keeping our students and staff safe is our top priorit Starting now, we'll be implementing the following:

Visitors / Parents (including PTA)

  • All visitors must check in with School Safety, show ID, sign in, and sign out when leaving.
  • School Safety will tell all visitors to go straight to the Main Office. They'll get help and directions from there.
  • School Safety will call the Main Office to let them know a visitor is coming.

Main Office:

  • All parents visiting for a meeting or birthday party must sign the Visitor’s Log in the Main Office and pick up a Visitor’s Pass Lanyard.
  • No adults should be walking around the building without a lanyard that identifies them as a visitor, substitute teacher, or paraprofessional.  Under no circumstances should any adults be walking freely among students (with or without a lanyard).  Once their business in these areas is concluded, visitors should return to the main office to sign out and turn in their lanyard.
  • Parents must be escorted to the classrooms for meetings and/or birthday parties.

School Safety Agent

  • The role of the School Safety Agent is crucial, so it’s important to keep distractions to a minimum. No one (parents or staff) should be standing or congregating in the lobby. Once a visitor signs in, they must go directly to the Main Office. Once a visitor signs out they must leave the building. If they're waiting for someone, they can wait near the front doors or outside. It's important that the safety agent have a clear view of anyone walking down the hall toward the Main Office to ensure they don't continue into the building where they might encounter students.

It is our sincere hope that tightening up these security protocols will help maintain a safe environment for all.  We have all seen the “worst case scenarios” that seem to happening at schools throughout the country lately and it is vital that we do everything in our power to ensure the safety of the children and staff members at PS 139.

 Thank you for your cooperation.

 Sincerely,

 Eleuterio Rolon, Jr.

School Meals

Each school year, all of our families complete the Family Income Survey. You may wonder why this is so important, we are happy to explain. When all of our families complete the form, this helps with our Title I funding. Title I funding is a huge asset to our school. This funding helps all students, through staffing, extracurricular program, and supplies.

Please complete the form online to ensure that our funding remains here Lunch Form .
